I have made it! A few days ago I cycled the last few miles through Tierra del Fuego to the ocean at Ushuaia, the most southerly city in the world, nicknamed ‘The End of the World.’ It has been 268 days (almost 9 months) since leaving Anchorage in Alaska to climb and cycle all the way south through the length of the Americas. I am ecstatic to get here, it has been such a focus for so long. After a crazy 24 hours of media, I have just now started to crash out a bit – the mind and body relaxing after what has been an incredible adventure. When I get back to Scotland in a few days I will write more, but for now if you would like to catch up on my finishing blog and radio/TV coverage please go to the BBC website at www.bbc.co.uk/cyclingtheamericas.
I have heard that the transmission dates of the BBC1 documentary series about this expedition have changed from when I wrote my last blog – they will now be on Tuesdays, the 23rd & 30th March then the 6th April.
Where will your next expedition be, after your tour of the U.K?
Unbeleivable, what a guy, absolutely brilliant what a fantastic expedition. Keep up the good work mark and please keep us all posted of future expeditions!!
Congratulations Mark! I just have finished watching the BBC show, THE MAN WHO CYCLED THE AMERICAS, and I must say I am amazed at your experience. You are truly a role model to me. Your determination and endeavour are inspiring. I really cried when I saw you achieving the tour, touching the southern ocean waters. To me, it was overwhelming.
So, best regards and good luck with your next adventures.
Hi Mark,
As a keen cyclist I loved the BBC programmes on the two ‘trips’.
Are there any plans for the BBC to repeat the programmes and / or produce a DVD ?
Just started reading your book – can’t put it down !
Kind regards
Hi Stuart
Glad you enjoyed the doc’s. The BBC have the copyrights for the footage and have not said whether they will either repeat or release DVD’s.
Mark
